Badby and District Film Society was launched in January 2008 with a showing, for two nights, of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's 'Evita'. It meets every month, for one night during the summer months and two nights in the winter, normally on the last Thursday and Friday of the month.
Members have the chance to meet and chat over 'light bites' both before and after the film, and many take the opportunity to bring their own liquid refreshments for consumption during the screening. The Society's equipment is high-tech, with a state of the art DVD projector, a giant screen (more than 17 ft across), and Dolby system sound. All this is thanks to grants from the Northamptonshire Community Fund and the Ford Foundation, as well as the generous donation of a pair of speakers by the Rev. Michael Pettit.
David Pearce is Chairman, Jocelyn Hartland-Swann is Secretary, Richard Bird is Publicity Secretary and Christine Turner (01327 879902) is Membership Secretary. Susan Levett organises the catering, and other committee members are Rob and Gwen Jimmieson from Everdon and Bill Dove from Staverton. Any of these will be happy to give more information.
